Modern Kitchen Remodel

The house was built in the early 1980s. Right in the center of the 1st floor its biggest asset was also its biggest challenge: connectedness. So many paths run through this space that the over-sized island was the best way to create an actual cooking area (aka kitchen). We utilized it for smart storage. The openness was also challenging in terms of color and texture, since we did not want adjacent rooms to clash with the new design. Our clients were very hip and open! While the main colors & materials were soft in expression, the accent color (purple) added a lot of fun. What many people are not aware of: purple is actually one of a few colors that works with every other color. Once the hue is right and its proportionality & placement fits the scheme it is a great team player.
