Composure

Keeping your style up during the hot, humid days of summer can be a challenge. Why not combine whites of different tones and fabrics, as in this look from Gucci? Yes, this outfit would be considered a fashion risk for most of us, so let’s just use it as a guide.  We found this photo, taken by Camilla Akrans, in the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar.  Shot at architect Luis Barragan’s ranch in Mexico, the composition of model, horse, sky, and Barragan’s striking pink wall had us swooning.

Let’s look at the outfit. The model wears a maximalist version of the classic poet’s shirt, with outsized drawstring and lace panels that ensures coolness in the sweltering heat. The pants are an equally bold choice, with their brass buttons and military -meets -matador styling. This outfit achieves visual harmony and offers a satisfying contrast in texture at the same time.  No need for gobs of jewelry if you choose two distinct pieces, as the Lisa Eisnerring and bracelet definitely are. Of course, maybe the best accessory is a beautiful horse.
