Uniqlo and Lemaire: A Covetable Collection

By October 2, 2015Blog

Who says casual has to be sloppy? The new collaboration between the Japanese retailer Uniqlo and designer Lemaire offers comfortable pieces for both women and men in luxe fabrics, and at attainable prices. While Christoph Lemaire may not be a household name, his resume (former head of womenswear at Hermes) makes him an exciting pick for Uniqlo. This collection covers all the basics you need for fall, but in good fabrics like cashmere, cotton, and wool. There are no fancy flourishes here, just the kind of grown-up clothes you’d want to live in. The collection launches today at uniqlo.com and at select NYC stores.

The above outfit is a breath of fresh air: An oversized cashmere turtleneck in crimson (one of fall 2015’s big colors) and a wool/cashmere loose pant that has an elastic waist (might be good to wear for Thanksgiving!) What a great alternative to jeans or sweatpants. Everywhere we look in fashion now, pants are ankle length, so give extra thought to your shoe choice. A men’s style oxford is shown here, but a pump with a chunky heel would also look great.

Be sure to peruse the lookbook: http://www.uniqlo.com/uniqloandlemaire/us/It bears quite a resemblance to Lemaire’s work for Hermes. Here’s to hoping that this high/low collaboration delivers what it promises!
